(I can't tell a lie) I wanted to write this post right after watching every episode of Fallon's 1st week, but my sister making a surprise visit from Florida for her Spring Break threw me out of my blogging streak. So here it is (pretending this was written on Feb. 22).
My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed a super fun and memorable first week of the Tonight Show back in NYC with host Jimmy Fallon! I was extra excited to see Jimmy take the honorary late night seat from Jay Leno. I first loved him in "Fever Pitch" with one of my other favs - Drew Barrymore. I have practically memorized that movie. But moving on...
I am so excited I get to watch now every night without fail, since I could only catch clips and videos from his show as the Late Night host throughout the day, and rarely got to watch a full episode before bed.
Highlights of the 1st week:
- Jimmy Fallon's genuine monologue introducing himself and family to the world on the 1st show. You could feel his heart-felt appreciation through the screen, to be honored to carry the torch of a historic piece of American pop culture - the Tonight Show. It put a smile on the face of all who watched. We were witnessing history being made, and it felt really good.
- Amazing guest Will Smith! LOVE HIM!!! The perfect 1st guest in many ways. In case you missed the "evolution of hip-hop dancing," you gotta watch...
- Then an incredible performance by U2 singing their single "Invisible" atop 30 Rock, 70 stories above the city! Again, you gotta watch!!
- Steven Colbert pouring pennies down Jimmy's shirt on the first night "bet you wouldn't make it" bit. The selfie Colbert took right after:
- Jerry Seinfeld was on as the first comedian of the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and my boyfriend and I were just dying laughing at his stand-up!
- Brian William's "Rappers Delight." All I have to say is these editors are BRILLIANT!!
- The Roots reenact a real dialogue from the Bachelor. Dude, this is hilarious!
Of course, in honor of the Olympics Will Ferrell had to do a figure skating routine to the music of Downton Abbey (which he has admitted to never seeing before by the way). This was so awkward, and so Will Ferrell...we were dying laughing.
As anyone who knows me knows, I am a overly enthusiastic person. I LOVE and appreciate Jimmy for all his enthusiasm! His kind and authentic wave goodbye saying, "hope to see you tomorrow night!" was my favorite! I can't wait for everyone to experience all the good that's in store for this amazing show. So exciting!
