Pizza, Selfies and Somewhere Over the Rainbow: Oscar's 2014 Recap

Oscars night is by far one of my favorite nights of the year! Not to mention, my lifelong dream to be on the red carpet at the Academy Awards. So relive the magic of the 86th Academy Awards in my top 5 highlights!

1. You can always expect FUN from Ellen. It was exciting to look forward to Ellen Degeneres as host of the Oscars for what's hard to believe - only the 2nd time! (Last time was in 2007.) Who doesn't love Ellen? As a host, you can expect her to: make a few funnies, do the unexpected (like deliver pizza down the aisles to the A-list crowd!) and ensure she won't upset the celebs she makes fun of - and if they do get their feathers ruffled, Ellen is easy to forgive. Overall, I think she made the Oscars an extremely enjoyable night for everyone!

2. Lupita Nyogn'o wins Actress in a Supporting Role for "12 Years a Slave." Her speech was touching. She is so genuine and real. I think almost everyone can relate to this warm individual, who has worked hard and is so grateful to have made it to this point with her first feature film! She is an inspiration - and of course a fashion icon.

3. Record-breaking, Twitter-crashing Selfie of the Year. When Ellen takes a selfie, everyone wants in. This social media guru knows how to break records and make history in the Twitter-sphere! (Fun fact: I interviewed at the Warner Bros. Studios to be on the Social Media/Web Team for Ellen. Not-so-fun-fact: A nice girl from Yale got the job instead. This was an amazing life experience for me and everything is well...meant to be! Still LOVE you Ellen.)

4. Pink's Perfect "Somewhere over the Rainbow" Performance. This tribute to one of my personal childhood favorites - the Wizard of Oz's 75th anniversary - was an incredibly raw moment. Pink slowed the show down with this heart-warming performance, giving everyone a chance to sit back, relax, and realize how short and wonderful life is. (Whoever chose Pink to sing this is a genius, because she nailed it!)

5. The SET was on fire! I really loved the modern flair of the electric set designs this year. The typewriter backdrop was one of my favorites.

BEST DRESSED: Ladies rockin' the dress! I don't believe in making fun of the people who just blacked out when it was time to choose their dress and ended up with some insanely obscure dress choice, so here are the ones that I subjectively believe were pretty wonderful choices...

'Till next year, the Oscar goes to all the awesome people making great movies that span decades, inspire us, influence us and motivate us to be better human beings!
